VISUAL ARTIST CECILIA AVENDAÑO RELEASES HER BOOK “ENFERMEDADES PRECIOSAS”, PUBLICATION THAT COMPILES HER LATEST PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES
The renowned visual artist Cecilia Avendaño (Santiago, 1980) presents her book Enfermedades Preciosas [Precious Diseases], publication that recounts, through writings, illustrations and images, the creative process behind her photographic series Enfermedades Preciosas. The series, conceived in 2015, was presented by Isabel Croxatto Galería in Santiago, Istanbul, and Hong Kong with great success, and will conclude with a gran exhibition to be held in October and November in Santiago.
The book launch will be held next Wednesday 26 june at 19.30h, at Sala de Arte CCU (Vitacura 2680, Las Condes, Santiago). The book will be presented by the artist along with the curator Andrea Jösch, the psychoanalyst Constanza Valenzuela, the writer Juan José Richards, and the gallerist Isabel Croxatto.
The publication — special bilingual limited edition of 500 copies, numbered and signed — starts the conclusion of the Enfermedades Preciosas project, in which the 20 images that form the series are compiled for the very first time, having eleven of them remained unseen until now.
The book, printed in collaboration with Ograma and distributed by Isabel Croxatto Galería, recollects in 160 pages writings in Spanish and English by Cecilia Avendaño, Andrea Jösch, curator of the project; the writer Rocío Cano; the Spanish investigator Elsa McCausland; and the art theoretician Sergio Rojas.
